Podcast Description
We’re releasing a NEW podcast on friendship! Be sure to like, follow and subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts.
Imagine you could listen in on those unfiltered conversations about what is actually happening inside someone’s friendships, community, and support system…
- How someone navigated a friendship breakup even though they still see that friend often.
- What does balancing marriage, friends, and family look like, and who is someone calling when they need support?
- A parent who is wholly overwhelmed but doesn’t have any family that lives nearby. Do they need to move back to their hometown? How might they build a support system from friends and the nearby community?
Alex Alexander asks the questions we all want to ask and unearths a new way to think about community, friendship, and the support systems we surround ourselves with.
“Doing things the way they’ve always been done” has left us all at our loneliest and most disconnected. So, ask the questions. Reimagine your relationships. Build yourself a better version.

Podcast Intro 00:00
All right, gang. Here’s to nights that turn into mornings and friends that turn into family. Cheers!
Alex Alexander 00:18
Hi, friends, it’s Alex Alexander.
Alex Alexander 00:20
I am so excited to share a little bit about my new podcast, Friendship IRL.
Alex Alexander 00:25
Now, this podcast was inspired by none other than my friends saying the same thing to me on repeat. They would say, “Alex, we’re just going to start secretly recording you, when we have these conversations. People need to hear this stuff.”
Alex Alexander 00:45
So friends, thank you for threatening to secretly record me at least a dozen times, maybe more. Because here we are. I am launching the podcast.
Alex Alexander 00:56
Those conversations, the ones my friends all thought you needed to hear the ones I have in my sweatpants. Normally on the couch. I’m bringing them to the mic. I’ll be talking to everyday people about what’s working, what’s not what we all might try differently when it comes to friendships, community and our overall support systems.
Alex Alexander 01:17
Now, my people would tell you, I love to ask the hard questions. And that’s exactly what I’ll do on this podcast. Why? Well, the more I talk about these relationships, the more I realize they are not working for most people.
Alex Alexander 01:37
People have made some pretty raw admissions to me over the years. Some have stopped me dead in my tracks. Do you want to hear a few of them?
Podcast Guest #1 01:47
I always feel like the extra invite, but never part of the group.
Podcast Guest #2 01:51
Since graduating college, I basically lost touch with all my friends.
Podcast Guest #3 01:55
I basically lost all of my friendships when I got married. Making friends
Podcast Guest #3 01:59
is a skill we were supposed to learn in preschool. So why do I feel like I completely out of my depth as an adult?
Podcast Guest #4 02:06
I accept the invite. I go to the party. That’s what I’m supposed to do. Right? Yet. There I am standing in a room full of people. And I feel so lonely.
Alex Alexander 02:18
So friends, yes. That’s you now to head over to wherever you listen to podcasts. And do me a favor. Can you hit the subscribe button for Friendship IRL? I really don’t want you to miss out on our weekly conversation.
Can I add you to the group chat?
